Today on her beautiful blog, Christine invited her readers to respond to this photo. Thinking about birds flying through the winter mist to destination unknown inspired me to write this:
Trees rest their heads against a pillow of clouds,
Bodies cocooned in a soft quilt of fog –
Winter sleep.The New Year beckons,
“Wake up, set goals, make plans!”Oh, let me rest a little longer,
to dream my dreams
and release them to the heavens. To soar with grace and courage,
Boundless and fearless.

What a lovely way to welcome the new year! The photo makes me dream and your wonderful poem captures that feeling. Thank you!
I’m so glad the poem spoke to you. You can probably tell I’d like to be curled up in my bed on these chilly, grey days, either sleeping or reading or a bit of both.
I find Christine’s photos very inspiring.
i wonder what it would look like to curl those dreams around the new years’ beckoning and for the plans and goals to include both rest & dreaming of dreams…
wait! you’ve already started….that feels like just what you have done here.
Thank you, Lucy, for helping me realize I’ve started.
What i’ve learned is you need sky-high dreams as well as practical goals. It’s new and a bit scary for me to think this way.
How very lovely. Thank you for sharing it!
Thank you, Lisa. I just visited your site and enjoyed reading your post to welcome 2008.
