“Will you sail ‘cross the water and tell us what you found”
On Monday, Christine invited us to Poetry Party #11. Her prompts are so evocative that rather than search for inspiration, the words and phrases tumble out. I do not consider myself a poet — before going to these parties, I had probably written about 3 poems in my life, all prior to Grade 8.
But I like to play with words. So here is my contribution to the party:
I have sailed to a distant shore
where I have found:Kindred spirits
and dear soulsDazzling sunlight
and dancing treesFlying fish
and swimming birdsMystery and complexity
beneath the mirror’s surfaceDisturbing, dangerous questions
and mind-altering ideasSmall treasures,
observed and preservedSlow pleasures,
savoured and repeatedStrength to pick up the oars
and continue the journey

elaine, this is very lovely. i felt like i was in a magical time and place as well as feeling an oh-so-familiar resonance. i am delighted you joined the party and shared your favors
“slow pleasures, savoured and repeated.” yes!
Hi Lucy.
I hope you found yourself in the list of discoveries (and no, I’m not referring to the flying fish.)
In fact, you might say I discovered all these things by joining the fellowship of blogging.
Elaine,
Actually, I rather like this. Simple but evocative. You may be a poet in the making.
Keep writing!
HM, Thank you for reading my words, and even more, thank you for your encouragement. It means a lot when I consider the source, a master wordsmith and poet himself.
